Risk Management in the Clinical Laboratory

The course is designed for personnel working in Diagnostic and Research laboratories and it aims at providing the participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to become effective leaders and managers in their area of operation. The course participants will be taken through an integrated learning experience that will broaden their leadership and management skills set and lay a firm foundation for understanding concepts of identification, assessment, mitigation of risk and related benefits. The following major approaches to risk management will be discussed: • Statistical Process Control, • Conformance to Consensus standards, • Failure Mode Effect and Analysis (FMEA), • Root Cause Analysis (RCA), • System approach to Error Reduction; • Corrective Action and Preventive Action (CAPA) & Continual Improvement • Human factors (Error detection and Reporting) • Performance Monitoring - Quality Control plan
